Palm Beach Cardinals shut down Bradenton Marauders 5-0

June 29, 2013

The Bradenton Marauders (31-47, 5-5) were held to two hits in a 5-0 loss to the Palm Beach Cardinals (35-43, 6-4) on Saturday night at McKechnie Field. Erica Avila and Jose Osuna had Bradenton’s hits. Kurt Heyer (W, 2-2) pitched seven scoreless innings. The righty struck out seven and walked three while surrendering just the two singles in his sixth High-A start. Danny Miranda recorded the final six outs without incident. Adrian Sampson (L, 3-4) stumbled in the second innings. Matt Williams doubled in a run, then scored on Ronny Gil’s first homer of the season to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. Two more runs in the third give the Cardinals all the insurance they would need. Collin Walsh, Casey Rasmus, and Anthony Garcia each had three hits for the Cardinals. Garcia hit two doubles. Game two of the series is Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Zack Dodson will be Bradenton’s starting pitcher.
