Bradenton man charged with battery


MANATEE -- A Bradenton man was charged with roughing up his girlfriend and getting physical with police officers, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Paynewjuan Davis, was arrested at 1 a.m. June 17 in the 4100 block of Lake Bayshore Drive in Bradenton after a verbal altercation with his girlfriend and mother of his children turned physical, according to an incident report.

Davis, who had warrants out for his arrest, grabbed her by her hair and pulled her.

When deputies arrived they found Davis bleeding onto his shirt, smelling of alcohol, with slurred speech and he could barely stand, the report said.

One the children had a bloody nose, but a sibling said that she threw a cup at her father when he would not let go of their mother and hit the other child instead.

Deputies arrested Davis and took him to Manatee Memorial Hospital to be treated for cuts he had on his head, but while at the hospital he refused orders.

Davis tried to leave the hospital in handcuffs. When the deputy went to grab him and place him back on the chair, he kicked the deputy in the shin, deputies said.

Davis' charges included battery, battery on an officer and resisting arrest.
