Two shot in Manatee robbery

June 29, 2013

— Two men were shot and wounded early Saturday during a robbery, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a news release, four men in a vehicle were pulling into a driveway in the 6200 block of 15th St East at about 1:30 a.m., when they were followed by another vehicle.

Two males got out the second car and approached the driver's door. The two suspects pistol-whipped the driver and dragged him from the car. His wallet, containing about $500, was taken, deputies said.

Two other victims exited the vehicle and both were shot by the suspects. The fourth suspect hid in the car and was not injured.

The suspects then fled in an unknown direction on 15th Street East.

Both gunshot victims were in surgery Saturday morning and both are expected to live, the news release said.
