Bradenton Marauders salvage split with Charlotte Stone Crabs with 13-inning win


The Marauders and Stone Crabs exchanged emotional wins to split a doubleheader Friday night at Charlotte Sports Park. The Stone Crabs rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to win game one 9-8, but Bradenton got the last laugh in game two, winning 3-2 in 13 innings. The Marauders bullpen pitched 10 scoreless innings in the second game. Robbie Kilcrease pitched the final three innings of the third game to earn his fourth win of the season. Emmanuel De Leon pitched four innings in relief of starter Robbie Rowland. Zack Von Rosenberg chipped in three scoreless frames. The Marauders trailed 2-1 until the top of the sixth in game two. Consecutive doubles by Alen Hanson and Junior Sosa broke up a no-hit bid by Roberto Gomez and knotted the score 2-2. Dan Gamache broke the tie with a sacrifice fly to score Chris Lashmet in the top of the 13th. Lashmet walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and was balked to third. Willy Garcia’s three-run homer gave the Marauders a 6-3 lead in the fifth inning of the first game. The Marauders added two more runs to take an 8-3 lead. The Stone Crabs cut the lead to 8-5 going to the seventh. With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, four straight batters reached against Zac Fuesser and Joan Montero to win the game for Charlotte. Luke Bailey walked against Montero to score the winning run. The Marauders return home to open a three-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Adrian Sampson will be on the mound for the Marauders against Kurt Heyer for the Cardinals
