Bradenton woman accused of stabbing boyfriend

MANATEE -- A 32-year-old Bradenton woman has been charged with stabbing her boyfriend in the chest, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Tamara Dubois was arrested at 4:22 a.m. June 19 and charged with use of a deadly weapon, according to the arrest report.

Dubois and her boyfriend of three years got into an argument in the bathroom of the home they share. The boyfriend left the bathroom, shut the door and went outside the home, officers reported.

Climbing out the bathroom window, Dubois came around to the front of the home, entered through the front door, retrieved a survival style knife and again went outside continuing the verbal dispute.

The knife appeared to be four to five inches long, according to the boyfriend, who said she threatened to stab him.

Dubois then stabbed him once in the upper left side of the chest and then fled the scene, the report stated.

The boyfriend was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Dubois was located three hours after the incident at the home of a friend. She admitted to the stabbing reportedly but claimed it was in self-defense.
