No one hurt in Manatee school bus accident

— A Manatee school bus was involved in a parking lot accident shortly after noon Thursday.

None of the 35 students on the bus were injured.

The bus was traveling through a parking lot at 1800 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. when a GMC van at a stop sign surged forward and struck the right side of the bus, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The GMC driver, Thomas Spohnholtz, 29, of Sarasota, was cited for careless driving.
