CPA charged with exploiting disabled St. Pete client

A CPA from Englewood is charged with exploitation of an adult and grand theft after the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reportedly uncovered the theft of $7,200.

The victim was a disabled woman in St. Petersburg with no access to computers, deputies report.

Michele Whitehead, 59, is alleged to have used online communication to cut off mailed bank statements to the victim and then transfer cash from the victim's account into her own.

Bond has been set at $25,000.
