SARASOTA -- A man told Sarasota police he was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night at his home on North Cocoanut Avenue.

At about 9:35 p.m., the victim told officers someone was hiding in the area when he arrived home in the 2100 block of North Cocoanut. As he got out of his vehicle with a briefcase containing personal documents, the suspect, who was wearing a dark hoodie, produced a black handgun and placed it to the victim's head, according to a police report.

The male suspect stole the briefcase and some jewelry from the victim and fled on foot westbound.

Police searched the area with a K-9 unit, but did not find a suspect.
