PALMETTO — An autopsy performed today on 3-year-old Kyrese Dwayne Anderson indicated the child died from hyperthermia, according to Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube.
Detectives believe Anderson was accidently left in a car for three to four hours Saturday afternoon.
At this time, no one has been charged in connection with the death of Kyrese, Steube said in a news release.
The boy died after being left in a car in an apparent mix-up while her parents attended a funeral, the Manatee County Sheriffs Office reported.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at about 4:20 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive child at a home in the 2700 block of Fifth Avenue East, according to a news release.
Detectives responded and determined the child was left in a vehicle while her parents, from Lehigh Acres, attended a funeral. The mother and father drove separate cars to a babysitters house to drop off their children before they went to the funeral.
Deputies say it appeared the boy was accidently left in the car while two other children, ages 4 and 5, went in the babysitters home.
The parents left for the funeral thinking all the children were in the house.
When the parents returned from the funeral hours later, they discovered the boy in the vehicle and called 911, deputies said.
Paramedics responding to the 911 call pronounced the child dead at the scene.
