Weather alert: For the 1st day of summer, Bradenton will be hot

MANATEE -- Weather forecasts for the Bradenton area are starting to repeat themselves.

The National Weather Service for Friday -- the first day of summer -- is calling for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 90 and east-southeasterly winds of 6 to 8 mph becoming south-southwesterly in the afternoon. There is 50 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after 8 a.m.

Friday night, skies will be partly cloudy, with a low around 73. The chance of rain before midnight drops to 30 percent, according to the Weather Service.

The forecast for Saturday and Sunday is similar.
