Sheriff: Woman jogger fights off two attackers near Samoset Elementary

MANATEE -- A 23-year-old woman jogging on a track next to Samoset Elementary School late Wednesday was able break free from two men who were trying to rape her, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 9:30 p.m., the woman was on the track when she was attacked, according to a report.

"They attempted to remove her clothing, and she was able to break free and challenge them with a weapon," the report states.

The suspects fled the area on foot and could not be located.

Samoset Elementary School is located at 3300 19th St. E., Bradenton.

One of the suspects was described as being in his 20s, standing 6 feet, 3 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a red Michael Jordan hoodie and black pants, according to the sheriff's office.

The second suspect was described as being in his 20s and with a muscular build. He was wearing a yellow A-shirt and neon orange shirts. He also had the tattoo of a pinup girl on his arm, according to the report.
