Salvation Army to celebrate addiction recovery work

SARASOTA -- The Salvation Army of Sarasota is celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Addiction Recovery Program at the Sarasota County jail with breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday at 1400 10th St., Sarasota

The program was introduced by Sarasota United for Responsibility and Equity, and instituted in partnership with The Salvation Army and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

The Sarasota County jail launched the program in July 2009 with one men's pod, but quickly expanded to include a women's wing.

The free addiction recovery program provides inmates an immersive, recovery-focused environment where they develop the life skills needed to address their addiction. Upon release, they continue the rehabilitation process with contacts they have established in the recovery community.

Call Lisi Brannen at The Salvation Army, 954-4673-117 for more information.
