Adhere to Manatee County comprehensive plan, reject Long Bar plan

Regarding the developers of Long Bar Pointe and their request to change the county comprehensive plan: Since this is a very serious issue with potentially far-reaching consequences for many while benefiting very few, why not put it up for a referendum vote in the next general election?

That way the people get to decide and the commissioners are off the hook to their contributors (see

Or, the commissioners could do the right thing and tell the developers "sorry, no way is this going to happen."

As this is a classic "no brainer," there is no need to drag this out any further and waste more county resources. We have a comprehensive plan, it is a good one, and it needs to be adhered to.
