UPDATE: Man arrested after woman, 79, robbed at knifepoint at Walmart in Bradenton

June 17, 2013

At about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Manatee sheriff's deputies arrested Jeffrey Hassen, 25, and charged him with armed robbery in connection with this robbery, reported first Monday on Bradenton.com.

The Violent Crimes Task Force along with K-9 and Patrol Units responded to 5607 41st St. E in an attempt to locate Hassen, with warrants for his arrest. Occupants allowed officers into the home and stated Hassen was asleep in the rear bedroom, according to a report.

After several attempts of announcing their presence with no answer, officers brought in a K-9 dog, but still did not get Hassen to respond. The sheriff's dog found Hassen hiding under clothes in the bedroom closet.

The suspect was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for his dog bites, where he was cleared and taken to jail. Hassen's bond is to be set at first appearance, the sheriff's report stated. ----------------------
