Body of 19-year-old missing Sarasota swimmer found off Lido Key

Herald staff reportJune 16, 2013

— The body of a missing 19-year-old male swimmer was discovered about 200 yards off Lido Key Beach about 8:50 a.m. Sunday.

In resuming a search that began after Steeve A. Reserve went missing about 6:30 p.m. Saturday night, the Sarasota Police Department's dive team found the body little more than two hours after daybreak.

Swimming with another man Saturday night the pair became exhausted and headed back to shore. Only one man made it back as they became separated in the return swim, according to police.

Witnesses said Reserve was swimming off Lido's south beach when he looked distressed as he tried to return to land.

A group of friends searched for about 20 minutes and then called 911, according to John Demaret, one of then men searching for his friend Saturday night.
