FHP: Man hurt when scooter hits car on Cortez Road in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 23-year-old man was critically injured late Wednesday when the scooter he was driving collided with a car in Bradenton, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was driving east on Cortez Road, steering side to side in the left through lane, when near the intersection with 37th Street West, he went into the turn lane and hit the side of car in the turn lane, according to an FHP report.

The scooter overturned and the driver was ejected. He was not wearing a helmet, according to FHP.

The driver was taken to Blake Medical Center in critical condition, the report states.
