Weather alert: Sunshine, heat and maybe a storm for Bradenton on Thursday

MANATEE -- The usual summertime daily mix of sunshine, heat and maybe a storm or two marks the weather forecast for Bradenton on Thursday.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 92 and heat index values as high as 98. Light and variable winds will become westerly at 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

The chance of rain, including possibly strong thunderstorms in the afternoon, is 20 percent. The stronger storms will produce heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and small hail, according to the Weather Service.

Thursday night, skies will be partly cloudy, with a low around 75.
