The Bradenton Marauders (25-37) dropped a pair of games to the Lakeland Flying Tigers (29-34) on Wednesday night at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Marauders dropped the resumption of a suspended game from Monday 4-1, then fell in seven innings 3-2. The Marauders leapt on Drew VerHagen (W, 5-3) to quickly erase a 1-0 deficit once Mondays game was resumed. With two outs in the fourth, Gregory Polanco singled and stole second. Dan Gamache doubled to knot the game. The Marauders did not have another hit until Polanco singled with two outs in the ninth. VerHagen pitched all six innings, while Zack Dodson (L, 1-4) went five on the hill for Bradenton and allowed three runs. Nick Kingham started the game on Monday, pitching three innings and striking out all three batters in the third. He finished with four strikeouts overall. He surrendered one run on an RBI single by John Murrian in the second. Game two remained scoreless until the fourth. Willy Garcia smashed his eighth home run of the season, a two-run homer off Kyle Ryan to stake Eliecer Navarro to a 2-0 lead. The Flying Tigers scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, one earned and one unearned, to tie the game 2-2. The score remained even until the bottom of the seventh. Joan Montero (L, 1-4) took over on the hill and quickly recorded two outs. He walked Brandon Loy with two outs. Chad Wright followed with a hard single through the right side. With runners at first and second, Danny Worth lined a 1-2 pitch into right field to win the game. Brennan Smith (W, 1-0) pitched two scoreless inning to earn the victory for the Flying Tigers. The teams are scheduled in play a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 5 p.m.
