Boys & Girls Clubs get $13,500 Publix grant

BRADENTON -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County received a $13,500 grant from Publix Supermarkets Charities for the Project Learn program at the Boys & Girls Club at Harllee Middle School.

Project Learn targets low-performing students whose progress in academic performance is hindered, often by factors unrelated to their academic capacity, such as poverty.

It helps assure children complete their homework and are prepared to begin every school day with the capacity to succeed.

Publix philanthropic efforts focus on youth, education and literacy. Publix has long supported the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County in programs teaching children life skills.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County serves more than 6,000 young people.
