Bradenton Marauders | Osuna homer gives M's first win over Miracle in 2013

June 8, 2013

The Bradenton Marauders rallied from a five-run deficit to snag their first win over Fort Myers this season 6-5 in 10 innings on Friday at McKechnie Field. Jose Osuna crushed a one-out solo home run off Zack Jones to end the game in extra innings. Bradenton’s winning margin was their only lead of the game. Fort Myers opened the scoring in the first on a solo home run by Eddie Rosario. The lead grew to 2-0 in the second when Matt Koch tagged Zack Dodson for an RBI-single. Dodson pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs. He struck out four and walked three. Dodson was lifted in the fifth inning after walking Miguel Sano with two outs. Kennys Vargas greeted Joan Montero with a two run homer to give Fort Myers their largest lead. Fort Myers did not have another batter reach until the 10th inning. Montero pitched the sixth, Eliecer Navarro dominated the seventh and eighth, Ryan Beckman tossed the ninth, and Zack Von Rosenberg (W, 2-0) pitched a scoreless 10th. The Marauders only run through the first four innings was a solo home run by Willy Garcia off Matt Summers. Summers struck out eight over five innings. Three errors by the Miracle in the bottom of the fifth helped Bradenton plate two unearned runs. Summers left with a 5-3 lead. Bradenton scratched across one run against Corey Williams in the eighth. Dan Gamache singled with one out, stole second, and scored on a single by Garcia to bring the Marauders within one. Carlos Mesa sent the game to extras with a home run on a 2-2 pitch against Williams in the ninth. Game two of the series is Saturday night at Fort Myers. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
