Credit card charges land Palmetto woman in jail

May 30, 2013

— A 30-year-old Palmetto woman has been charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. Authorities allege Tiffany Poeschl used a new credit card sent to a family member.

The card was used seven times May 15 through May 21 at Wal-Mart stores in Palmetto and Lakewood Ranch and a Wal-Mart gasoline station in Palmetto, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. The charges added up to about $540, according to the report.

The victims told detectives they ordered a Chase Mastercard but never received it.

The victims said Poeschl, a family member, had access to their mail, which comes to the 500 block of 10th Street East in Palmetto.

The victims identified Poeschl from video surveillance from two transactions.

When a detective called Poeschl to discuss the charges, she reportedly told him to call her back in one hour because she was in school. Poeschl failed to answer the phone an hour later and was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday.

Poeschl was in the Manatee County jail Thursday in lieu of $1,500 bail, according to the sheriff’s office website.
