— A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend with a stick and a car door, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Virgino Perez-Vasquez was at his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend’s house on the 200 block of 60th Avenue Drive West at about 10:09 p.m. Sunday when her 28-year-old boyfriend showed up demanding to know why he was there, according to a news release.

Perez-Vasquez told police he was helping her install an air conditioner. Her boyfriend reportedly appeared drunk and began to call Perez-Vasquez names.

Perez-Vazquez asked the boyfriend if he wanted to fight. He reportedly agreed so the two men began to fight.

Perez-Vazquez hit the victim with a wooden and, as the boyfriend was trying to get into his truck, Perez-Vazquez reportedly slammed his head with the driver’s side door.

Police report Perez-Vazquez fled the scene in his truck, later returned on foot and was arrested by deputies.
