Bradenton teen charged in Sarasota burglary

— A homeowner told police three males burglarized his car Friday but they fled on foot just as patrol units arrived.

Sarasota Police Department Patrol Units responded to a vehicle burglary in progress at a home on Panama Drive at 12:18 a.m. Friday.

Officers reportedly caught a juvenile male running from the home. With descriptions of the other two suspects and their last direction of travel, the Sarasota Police Department K-9 Unit and patrol officers, Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit and the Sarasota County Aviation Unit located a second suspect, Alonso Ford, in the 1900 block of Cocoanut Avenue.

Ford, 17, lives at 3830 78th Ave in Bradenton. After he was taken into custody police say he was positively identified by the victim.

A handgun belonging to Ford was also found.

The third suspect is still at large.

Ford is charged with two counts of armed burglary, obstruction and violation of probation.

The juvenile has not yet been charged as this case is still under investigation by Sarasota Police detectives.
