Pickup sought in Manatee accident

— An unknown vehicle was involved in a one-car crash early Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to a news release, a Chevrolet pickup truck was northbound on Ellenton Gillette Road approaching 29th Street East at about 1:30 a.m.

The truck traveled northeast off the east shoulder of Ellenton Gillette Road and onto the grass, striking a metal post marking an underground cable. It came to rest in a ditch, the FHP said.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any knowledge as to the identity and or location of the vehicle or driver are asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Barnett at 239-938-1800.
