Tampa Yankees deal Bradenton Marauders 7-0 defeat

May 21, 2013

The Bradenton Marauders (17-28) were shut out for the second time in their past four games, falling 7-0 to the Tampa Yankees (19-24) on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. Gregory Polanco had two hits and stole his 18th base of the season for the Marauders. Robby Rowland (L, 2-3) took the mound for Bradenton following a 17 minute rain delay. Three walks, a hit batter, and a bases loaded double by Ben Gamel staked the Yankees to a 4-0 lead before an out was recorded. Rowland bounced back to pitch five innings, yielding just an unearned run in the fourth after the rough start to the game. Sean Black (W, 2-0) blanked the Marauders for five and 1/3 innings on three hits. John Brebbia picked up the final two outs of sixth, then pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth. Dan Mahoney pitched the ninth for the Yankees. Gamel doubled three times in the game, helping the Yankees plate a pair of eighth inning runs to generate the final margin. Matt Benedict pitched three innings for Bradenton, allowing two runs. Joan Montero pitched a scoreless ninth. Game 3 of the series is Wednesday night at McKechnie Field. The Marauders will have Zack Dodson on the mound. Dodson is coming off his best start of the season last Friday night, when he allowed three hits and one run against the St. Lucie Mets. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. and gates open at 5:30 p.m.
