MANATEE -- Twin office buildings once used by the Hoveround Corp. were sold to a Texas company recently for $1.25 million, according to land records.
Hoveround, which makes power wheelchairs and scooters for seniors and people who have physical disabilities, moved to 6010 Cattleridge Dr., Sarasota. Hoveround left the buildings a year ago.
The buildings, 6428 and 6432 Parkland Drive, sold to VFC Partners 10 LLC, which is a partnership between FirstCity Financial Corp. of Waco, Texas, and Varde Partners Inc.
In another commercial building deal, a Lakewood Ranch office building sold for the same price as it did in 2005 after the deal closed May 7.
The office building, 8640 State Road 70E., sold for $2.2 million to Pitch Pine LLC, a Bradenton company managed by Kerri Dowdell, daughter of businessman Rodger Dowdell.
Kerri Dowdell holds two other buildings as investments, and this deal was also tabbed as an investment, she told the Herald. The building houses Advanced Dental Care of Lakewood Ranch and one other tenant, and both will remain there under their current leases, she said.
The sellers, Ranch Lake Investors LLC, purchased the property for $2.2 million in 2005 from Lake Plaza Associates, according to land records.
