Woman without cab fare to Manatee charged

HERALD STAFF REPORTMay 20, 2013

MANATEE -- A 26-year-old woman from Holyhill, Fla., was charged with petit larceny and arrested after she couldn't pay her cab fare to Manatee County from Tampa.

Jamie Carver allegedly took a taxi cab from Tampa to the Walmart at 6225 State Road 64 at 4 p.m. Saturday, a ride which ran up a $178 cab fare.

But she didn't have the money to pay when she arrived, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

The report states that there was one other person who took the ride with Carver and was charged but information on that person was not in the report.

Carver and the other suspect told the taxi driver from Auto Plus Cab Company in Tampa that someone waiting for them was going to pay the fare.

But no one was waiting, the report stated.
