It was the last time they would play together on the Mustang softball field, but there was no melancholy.
Instead, the Lakewood Ranch softball team was all business ... and smiles.
Softballs smacked in gloves, ponytails flew and there were last-minute tips from the coaches.
They were headed to Vero Beach to play in the state semifinals. They didn't win but that did not detract from the successes of their year.
Five graduating seniors are headed on to play college ball, including three at State College of Florida, and some will return to lace up their cleats on the same field next season.
