Democrats to hear about health tax
BRADENTON -- The Democratic Party of Manatee will hold its monthly meeting with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. Monday with speaker Ray Fusco of Manatee Rural Health at 7 p.m. at theManatee County Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd.
Fusco will talk about the half-cent sales tax for health care on the June 18 ballot.
Bradenton Kiwanis to discuss property tax relief
BRADENTON -- The Kiwanis Club of Bradenton will meet at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Kiwanis Hall to listen to Manatee County Administrator Ed Hunzeker's plan for property tax relief.
Manatee Association of Realtors expo in Polo Grill
LAKEWOOD RANCH -- The Manatee Association of Realtors will conduct a technology training and expo in the Polo Grill ballroom touting the idea of hiring a chef at open houses and parties.
Realtors will be treated to live chef demonstrations and be able to schedule chefs for events.

Memorial Day 'Tributeto Heroes' set Sunday
LAKEWOOD RANCH -- The Memorial Day "Tribute to Heroes" parade and festivities opens at 5 p.m. Sunday with the parade rolling at 6 p.m. Bob Delaney is 2013 parade grand marshal.

Children can register bikes, scooter, skate boards and wagons for the Decorated Bike Contest. All who enter will be part of the parade with trophies by age group for cutest, most patriotic and most creative decorating.
Proceeds will benefit Manasota Operations Troop Support. Requested donations include socks, beef jerky, Slim Jims, triple-edge razors, wet wipes, Twizzlers, peanut butter, canned stews and pastas, single-serve drink packet mixes and AAA and AA batteries.
