Herald staff reportMay 19, 2013

— Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress at 6 a.m. Sunday at the 1200 block of 25th Street East in Palmetto.

As units arrived on scene, the suspect, 24-year-old Cody Hollund, fled out the back of the residence. Detectives reported Hollund was located by K9 Sutton and K9 Ziggy hiding in a garbage can at 1115 26th St. Ct. E.

K9 Ziggy engaged the suspect briefly and the suspect received a small laceration on his right shoulder. The wound was superficial and did not require medical attention.

A witness reportedly identified the suspect, who allegedly had some of the victim’s property on his person, which was positively identified by the victim. A television was located two houses down from the victim’s residence.

The property was photographed and released to the victim.
