May 18, 2013

— A man was robbed of cash at knifepoint Friday evening, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported.

According to a news release, a 53-year old man was approached at about 5 p.m. by another man who asked him to buy medication for his daughter. The victim agreed but insisted on not just giving the suspect money, but accompanying him to make sure the money was actually used for medication.

While driving, the victim pulled behind the Home Depot at 2350 Cortez Road and stuck a knife to the side of the victim and demanded his money. The victim surrendered $250 cash, deputies said.

The suspect was described as a male in his late 20s named John.
