Ellenton man injured in I-75 crash

SARASOTA COUNTY -- An Ellenton man was seriously injured in a one-car accident on Interstate 75 Friday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The 32-year-old man was driving south on I-75 at about 6 p.m., four miles north of Sumter Boulevard in the right lane.

He told investigators as he was attempting to change into the left lane, he saw another vehicle already in the left lane, a news release said.

The man oversteered to the right and lost control of his Ford Contour and left the roadway onto the shoulder. The car began to rotate and collided with a tree.

The man was taken to Blake Medical Center. No charges have been filed, the news release said.
