Main Street Live: Main Street, Bradenton

Main Street Live will be have expanded hours this month. The May 16 event begins at 5 p.m. and will run to midnight so that the food trucks can stay open longer. Live music by Kettle of Fish is 6-10 p.m The event also features arts and crafts and beverages available for purchase. The event is free an open to the public. "Live from downtown, it's Friday Night": Towles Court, Sarasota

"Live from downtown, it's Friday Night" will be 6-9 p.m. May 17 and every third Friday of the month featuring live performances by Sarasota's premier entertainers and performing arts organizations and enjoy shopping at a unique mix of boutiques, galleries, and salons. Film Fridays Series "They Came From Outer Space": South Florida Museum, 201 10th St. W., Bradenton

The South Florida Museum will host the Film Fridays Series "They Came From Outer Space," featuring the history of space invaders on film and includes the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" 6 p.m. May 17. Harvey Milk Music Festival, downtown, Five Points Park, Sarasota

The Harvey Milk Music Festival will be 4 p.m.-midnight May 18 featuring music by Brazos the Rat, Zulu Wave, Bard and Mustache, Waking Giants, Good Graeff, Jen Rock and The Crybabies, MeteorEyes, Clementine and The Galaxy, and French Horn Rebellion. Guest speakers are Tesla Gunderson of ALSO Out Youth, at 5:30 p.m. and Michael Farmer of Equality Florida, at 7:45 p.m. A candlelight vigil will be held at 8:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. 10th annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Fair: At Gulfstream Avenue and Main Street, Sarasota

The 10th annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Festival will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 18-19 featuring more than 100 local, regional and national artists and crafters offering a variety of media including folk art, pottery, personalized gifts, handmade clothing, basket weaving, beaded utensils, candles, cork assemblage, fabric design, fiber quilts, fused wax and glass, hair accessories, handbags and accessories, handmade cards, leather, mosaic, wood, painted wood, plaster craft and stained glass. The event is free and open to the public. The downtown location has changed. The show will now be at the beginning of Main Street in downtown Sarasota, overlooking the bayfront on Gulfstream Avenue, from Cocoanut Avenue to Main Street, and will continue from Main Street to the Square.
