Palmetto man charged with lopping his dog's ears

May 15, 2013

— A Palmetto man was arrested early Wednesday for allegedly cutting off his dog’s ears, according to Manatee Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Bristow.

Adrian Trevino, 21, bonded out of jail about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on a $10,000 bond after being charged with animal cruelty stemming from a complaint called into the Manatee Sheriff’s Office on April 4.

“She said she found a dog whose ears looked like they had been recently cut off,” Bristow said.

MSO investigatorswere told by neighbors it was Trevino’s dog.

“He claims he found the dog with the injuries and was going to take it to the vet as soon as he had the money,” Bristow said.

Animal control, took possession of the dog and believe the ears were cut on purpose, Bristow said.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators Adrian had the dogs for weeks and it was fine up until the day of their report.

The sheriff’s office turned its findings over to the State Attorney’s Office with a recommendation for arrest.
