Cyclist-truck collision in Bradenton sends rider to hospital

— A bicyclist was sent to Blake Medical Center on Wednesday with critical injuries after colliding with a vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

About 7:38 a.m., a 44-year-old man was riding his bike on the south shoulder on Cortez Road approaching U.S. 41 when he reportedly failed to see a 2004 F-150 truck and entered its path causing the collision. The bicyclist , who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected into the middle of the intersection. He reportedly is listed in critical condition.
