Palmetto tourney hooks plenty of young anglers

PALMETTO -- The 27th annual Jerry Hill Memorial Kids Free Fishing Tournament at Palmetto's Green Bridge Fishing Pier attracted a large group of young anglers Saturday.

Participants caught a wide variety of fish including dogfish, trout, shark, whiting, pinfish, snapper and several large stingrays, according to Carol Kimball of Manatee/Sarasota Fish and Game. The tournament winners were:

7-year-olds:
