State softball semifinal at a glance:Columbia (26-4) vs. Lakewood Ranch (20-9-1)

Noteworthy

Columbia scored only seven runs in its region tournament, defeating Middleburg 2-1, Oakleaf 3-1 and Lynn Haven Mosley 2-1; Lakewood Ranch scored 22 runs with victories over Tampa Sickles 9-1, Strawberry Crest 5-1 and River Ridge 8-3.

Columbia was district runner-up last season and region finalist two years ago. This is the second straight final four appearance for Lakewood Ranch.

Pitchers: The Tigers' top two hurlers are sophomore right-handers Ashley Shoup (1.12 ERA) and Erin Anderson (1.88 ERA) both 13-2. Neither are strikeout artists. Shoup has fanned 65 in 86 innings, and Anderson has 76 strikeouts in 90 innings. Anderson has allowed 49 walks and 81 hits, compared to Shoup's 19 walks and 61 hits.

Pitcher: Right-hander Amanda Rak (soph.) 14-7, 0.94 ERA, 170K in 132.2 innings.

Position players: Jenn Trotter (2B, senior), .405 BA, 9 RBIs; McKaleigh Goodale (SS, senior), .378 BA, 3 HRs, 25 RBIs: Taylor Newton (CF, senior), .367 BA, 6 HRs, 27 RBIs; Shea Fisher (OF-senior), .402 BA., 11 doubles, 2 HRs, 26 RBIs; Amber Wimmer (3B, senior), .354 BA., 8 doubles, 17 RBI.
