Manatee gang detectives search for random shooter

— The Manatee County Sheriff's Office recovered shell casings after two shots were reportedly fired around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 4500 block of 19th Street Circle West, according to a news release.

No injuries or damage was reported.

Detectives reported a black 2000-2001 Volkswagen four-door dark-tinted windows, missing front passenger hubcap and a gray stripe across the lower part of the vehicle drove past the scene occupied by two males. The passenger shouted and fired two rounds in the air, according to the sheriff's office.

The vehicle then left the area. A witnesses provided information on the shooter and vehicle.

Gang Unit detectives responded to assist with the investigation.
