State College of Florida graduation highlights

May 5, 2013

State College of Florida graduation

Number of Graduates: 759

Speakers: David Houle, futurist-in-resident and faculty member of Ringling College of Art and Design.

Shining Moment: Recognition of the ceremonial mace bearer Pam Stewart, professor of art, design and humanities, and who is retiring after 55 years at SCF, making her one of the first faculty members to be hired at the school.

Best quote: "This is the culmination of what we do; educate students and prepare them for the rest of their lives," SCF President Carol Probstfeld, when asked what she thought about her first time presiding over a graduation as president of SCF.

Interesting sight and sound: The tops of the heads of the members of the SCF Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robyn Wilkes, as they performed the processional and recessional in the orchestra pit of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
