Woman charged with kicking Manatee sheriff's deputy

May 2, 2013

MANATEE -- A 30-year-old woman involved in a hit-and-run crash also kicked a deputy while being arrested early Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 2:05 a.m., authorities found Veronica A. Dubois' abandoned car after a crash in the 5000 block of 21st Way East, Bradenton. She had hit a car parked on the street and then fled the scene, according to a news release.

Working off information provided by witnesses, a deputy located Dubois and as he was arresting her on traffic charges, she kicked him while being placed into the patrol vehicle, according to the report.

Dubois was taken to the Manatee County jail without further incident.

She faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and battery on a law enforcement officer. She was being held without bond at the jail.
