Bradenton police release photos of suspect in Walmart purse snatching

BRADENTON -- An elderly woman had her purse stolen after being threatened with a knife outside a local Walmart Wednesday evening, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

At about 8:35 p.m. the 82-year-old victim was loading groceries into her car at the Walmart at 5315 Cortez Rd. W. when the suspect approached and threaten her life with a knife, police said.

"Give me your purse, or I'll kill you," the suspect told the victim.

The victim gave the suspect her purse and he fled in a four-door, white sedan waiting near by. The direction he took off in is unknown.

The suspect was described as being 21 to 30 years old, 5 feet to 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing between 135 pounds to 150 pounds. The suspect was seen wearing a purple shirt with white lettering, black shorts with a red stripe down the side and black shoes.
