Man charged with driving truck into girlfriend's car in Manatee

MANATEE -- A 38-year-old man has been charged with using his tractor trailer truck to strike his girlfriend's car during an argument, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 12:19 a.m Wednesday, Rafael Hernandez had his girlfriend meet him in a parking lot in the 6400 block of State Road 64. They got into an argument, and the woman left the cab of the truck and got into her vehicle to leave, according to the news release.

Hernandez then struck the front of the woman's car with his tractor at about 1 to 2 mph "in what is believed to be an attempt to keep her from leaving," the report states.

The woman was not injured but her car suffered minor damage.

Hernandez was charged with domestic aggravated assault. He was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
