Family Network gets grant

BRADENTON -- The Family Network on Disabilities of Manatee/Sarasota Inc. has received a $15,000 grant from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust to continue a program helping pediatricians and family doctors recognize early signs of developmental issues and autism.

The network's Pediatric Enrichment Program supports doctors in developing and implementing a customized program to assist with early identification of young children with developmental delays and/or autism spectrum disorder.

FND Manasota supports families of children with disabilities in Manatee and Sarasota counties through education, advocacy and caregiver support.

The check will be presented at FND Manasota's 14th annual Disability Conference, "LIFE Beyond School: It's Never Too Late, or Too Early, to Start Planning" 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at Woodland Community Church, 9607 State Road 70 E., Bradenton.

Dr. George Tilson of TransCen Inc. will guide participants through strategies, practical tools and ideas for actively engaging children and their families in hopes of building excitement about the future. Information: fndmanasota.org.
