April 21, 2013

MANATEE -- Three suspects were arrested after a 17-year-old boy was able to escape a robbery attempt, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 10:30 p.m. Saturday, the victim was riding his bicycle north in the 5000 block of 34th Street West, when he was approached and attacked by the suspects. They struck him in the face and tried to steal his bicycle, according to a news release.

The teen resisted and he was able to ride away, according to the report.

A deputy detained two of the suspects after he saw them walking just south of where the incident happened, and witnesses identified them as the attackers. Deputies a short time later arrested the third suspect, whom the victim identified as one of the attackers, according to the sheriff's office.
