Jose's downtown takeout and delivery kitchen to reopen downtown on Tuesday

BRADENTON -- The city's code enforcement officials shut down the newly opened take out and delivery service at Jose's Cuban Foods downtown venue after inspectors discovered that the hood in the kitchen had been installed without the required permits.

The city's code inspectors visited the take out kitchen at 1800 14th Street W. earlier this week and shut down the restaurant, said Kenneth Langston, the city's fire marshal.

Jose Baserva said he plans to have the new takeout kitchen open again on Tuesday.

He said he had permission from the county before opening and was surprised when the city shut him down.

There was a lot of "confusion," he said, "because there were two other restaurants there before us."

He said he doesn't understand why he was shut down, but is working to find out.
