SARASOTA -- A 69-year-old Illinois man has been charged with exposing himself to teenage girls at Siesta Key Beach, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

About 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a lifeguard alerted deputies that two 14-year-old girls had told him that Tom Petcher, of Hillsboro, Ill., had his swim trunks around his ankles and tried to brush one of the girls' legs with his buttocks, according to a news release.

"As the girls moved away from him, Petcher floated on his back with his genitals exposed," the report states.

This went on for about 15 minutes, according to the sheriff's office.

When deputies confronted Petcher, he was walking quickly toward the parking lot, "to try to avoid being detained," the sheriff's office said.

Petcher is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition. He was released from jail after posting $15,000 in bonds.
