Manatee sheriff: Domestic violence fugitive may be suicidal

April 18, 2013

MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is looking for a possibly suicidal man who early Thursday broke into a woman's home, choked her and crashed into a car while fleeing the scene, according to a news release.

About 3:40 a.m. Thursday, Bruce R. Nolet entered without permission and started a domestic dispute with the 27-year-old victim. Nolet and the woman have a child together, but he has never lived there, according to a news release.

At one point, Nolet threw the woman down on a bed and started choking her from behind, the report states.

"A neighbor heard the disturbance and entered the residence, stopping the attack," the report states.

While fleeing the scene, Nolet crashed into an unoccupied vehicle in the driveway.

The sheriff's office said anyone with information about Nolet's whereabouts should call the sheriff's office at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.

"The suspect has made threats to harm himself," the sheriff's office said.
