Careless driving leads to U.S. 301 crash

MANATEE -- The Florida Highway Patrol reports careless driving led to a three-car crash with serious injuries at 5:41 p.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. 301 and 15th Street East in Manatee County.

A 45-year-old Bradenton man driving a 1995 Isuzu station wagon south on U.S. 301 rear-ended a slowing 2009 Chevrolet station wagon, according to the FHP report. The impact reportedly pushed the Chevrolet driven by a 41-year-old Palmetto woman into a 2004 Ford station wagon.

The Isuzu driver was taken to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries, FHP reported.

The Chevrolet driver was also seriously injured and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital. The Chevrolet driver's 13-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries.

The 51-year-old Ford driver was not hurt. All drivers and the one passenger were wearing seatbelts. The Isuzu driver was cited for careless driving, FHP reported.
