Disabled pooch gets a new leash on life at the Humane Society of Manatee County

Squirt, a border collie mix, enjoys the sunshine and warm weather Monday as he gets a little exercise on his new doggie wheelchair at the Humane Society of Manatee County. Squirt recently suffered an accidental injury and lost the use of both of his hind legs. A longtime volunteer at the shelter offered to pay for his new set of "legs," which were fitted by vet Julie Hollifield, who is overseeing his rehabilitation. Squirt is seeking a permanent home that can deal with his special needs.
