UPDATE: Sarasota deputies discover meth lab, with mug

NOKOMIS -- Sarasota deputies found an active methamphetamine lab in a wooded area in Nokomis late Saturday, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Responding to a report, deputies found the lab in an area at the dead end of Lucille Avenue at about 9:35 p.m.

Deputies contacted the Sarasota County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit for assistance in removal of materials used in the lab, according to a news release.

Anyone with information about the lab can call the sheriff's office's Special Investigations Section at 941-4265 or 941-861-5800 or leave an anonymous tip with Crimestoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS, texting "TIP109" plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
